At least, you do according to Plex, and from my brief and non-exhaustive testing, this seems to be the case. This is for one specific reason - in order to have external subtitles properly recognised in Plex, you have to have the Local Media Assets agent not only on, but at the top of the list. I've spent a fair bit of time over the past week trying to fix my content's metadata (not the Plex metadata, the actual files' metadata) so that it doesn't screw with Plex.
